Author: Eon-Rider
Since I decided to have a crack at running a TF2 server, I’ve noticed a lot of custom maps crashing. It’s been a few months now and just yesterday I found the solution.
THE PROBLEM: When a player dies they are sent to the respawn screen. Given the proper configuration, the player will be viewing another player while waiting to respawn. But what happens when all players are waiting to respawn? The game forces the respawning players to view specific parts of a map called an observe point, which is essentially a static viewpoint. However, if a map is not designed with one, it will cause the server to crash.
THE SOLUTION: The obvious solution is to yell at the map creator to fix it but that’s not very practical as you’d have to have to do that for every map you have this problem with. You could even yell at Valve but this problem has been in the game since forever from what I know. Another solution is the one I decided to take. I discovered a SourceMod plugin that solves the problem nicely. Add Observer Point by strontiumdog adds a random observe point to the map if the said map is missing it.
It feels good to have that finally out of the way. I’ve been taking down custom maps, some of which I enjoyed, because of this bug so I’m pleased I no longer have to do this.
The only other major problem I have with TF2 is the NVIDIA crashing.

No entries in almost 3 months..
I uninstalled Team Fortress 2 a little over a week ago. Need to be serious now.
Busy..

I’ve been so damn busy lately. I know I’ve been neglecting my blog too much but I kind of don’t feel like updating it much.
I preordered The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time today. It should be good.
3DS Came Back from Repairs
Author: Eon-Rider
I sent my 3DS away to Nintendo for repair for a reason I’m rather embarrassed about. I decided to ask Dick Smith if they had news on the status of my repair and they said that they may have received back that day. And in fact, they did!

Pokemon White

I ended up going to bed at 5 AM and waking up at 7 AM for school so by the time I went home i was really tired. Sor tired that I missed my bus stop. So instead of getting off where I woke up at and walking home, I took the bus to Macquarie Centre and hunted around for a cheap copy of Pokemon.
I went to EB Games first which were totally trying to rip me off by selling it at $68. The guy at the counter reminded me that I could price match it. So I walked around everywhere looking for better deals. I came across Myer which was selling it for $55. I grabbed a catalog just in case and walked around a bit more. Dick Smith and JB Hi-Fi were trying to rip me off too but I can’t remember their prices. I then headed over to Big W and found them selling it at $47. But they were sold out. I grabbed a catalog from them and headed over to EB Games for a price match. I felt bad for doing it but I ended up saving $21. Ahaha
Yesterday I went home and played for 17 min for the day. I think I might’ve outgrown it which I’m sad to say. I ended up trading for Vintage weapons in TF2 instead.
Steam

I think I’m getting a bit addicted to PC games lately, in particular, Team Fortress 2. I need to quit but it’s so hard. I’m downloading Assassin’s Creed right now, in fact. Steam has a Ubisoft Hit Collection Weekend Deal right now for $12.99 which I bought. It comes with four games including Assassin’s Creed.
Preordered the 3DS
Author: Eon-Rider
Someone posted an amazing offer from the Dicksmith website on GBAtemp. For $298 you get the 3DS plus a free game. The retail price when the 3DS comes out in stores will be $350 so this was a great deal and I couldn’t resist it.

Yesterday I decided to do a test of SSBB on Dolphin being recorded using FRAPS. The result turned out surprisingly well.
